In 2018, the National Archive of Moving Images (ANIM), celebrating its role as a conservation centre of the Portuguese Cinematheque, organised the “Encontros no ANIM”. Established as an annual initiative, the Meetings at ANIM seek to promote dialogue between archival work and work on the archive. In the 2nd edition, which takes place between 21 and 22 May, in Bucelas, Loures, the programme includes round tables on digitisation as an archival practice, and presentations on Portuguese cinema.

On the 22nd, on the panel dedicated to reappropriation practices, InĂªs Ponte presents a communication on the Angolan feature fiction “Nelisita: narrativas nyaneka” by Ruy Duarte de Carvalho, produced in 1982 and “127 frames or 34 scenes from Nelisita“, an experimental film she made (2016), discussing the different intentions of the authors in regards to their recent screening in an ovanyaneka village.
